Installing on macOS

Installing CloudBees Jenkins X Distribution on macOS involves downloading of the latest archive, running a compatible program that will decompress the file, and moving the resulting binary program to a directory where users can execute the jx command:

  1. Download the jx binary archive by downloading the latest version using your web browser or by command-line using curl and pipe (|) the compressed archive to the tar command:

    curl -L https://storage.googleapis.com/artifacts.jenkinsxio.appspot.com/binaries/cjxd/latest/jx-darwin-amd64.tar.gz | tar xzv
  2. Install the jx binary by moving it to a location in your executable path using the mv command:

    sudo mv jx /usr/local/bin
  3. Ensure you are using the correct binary and executable path with the which command:

    which jx

Follow the instructions in the Creating a Jenkins X cluster document to continue the cluster process.
